CICA Julius Posener Exhibition Catalogue Award 2026

For its sensitivity and insight, the International Committee of Architectural Critics CICA presents Ramification with the 2026 Julius Posener Exhibition Catalogue Award.

“Ramification is an exceptional catalogue of the eponymous group exhibition, curated by landscape architect Céline Baumann along with a selected group of forward-thinking landscape architects, urbanists, and biologists. The content of the exhibition is dauntlessly gentle, yet no less critical, in the face of ecological collapse, boldly challenging dominant anthropocentric perspectives without resorting to inflexible polemics.

Throughout writing, conversation, and built projects is the attestation of the autonomy of non-human life as part of a more sustainable future—and not without specificity regarding adaptive practice. Projects such as the Aire River Renaturation suggest a methodology for allowing nature to reassert its independence outside of its usefulness to humans. Practical solutions are presented in the spirit of empowering and enabling further projects, not as endpoints, but nodes in continuing processes. The graphic design supports a slow engagement with the content, balancing a qualitative sense of the exhibition space with clarity of project documentation in equal parts.

The International Committee of Architectural Critics was established in 1978 in Mexico during the XIII World Congress of the International Union of Architects UIA. The prestigious CICA Book Awards were initiated at the XIV UIA World Congress in Warsaw, 1981. The CICA Julius Posener Award for an architectural exhibition catalogue was awarded for the first time in 2003 to Terence Riley and Barry Bergdoll for the catalogue Mies in Berlin (MOMA).
